SPEEDWAY, IN – MAY 17, 2011 – KV Racing Technology - SH Racing driver Tomas Scheckter did not venture out on track today due to extremely cold temperatures on day four of practice for the 2011 Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana.

Scheckter, 30, driving the No. 07 Team REDLINE Xtreme machine, has had a disrupted start to his 10th Indianapolis 500 campaign. Opening day on Saturday started out with sunny skies, but rain soon put an end to the ideal conditions. Sunday saw continuous rainfall which meant that the green flag for practice was never seen. Yesterday, despite clear skies, Scheckter ran just 13 laps before returning to the garage with a mechanical issue. Today, the decision was made by team officials, that with temperatures never reaching above 50F, that they we would be unable to gain anything of value from out. Other teams seemed to be in agreement as only two cars took to the track, running a total of 13 laps.

Over the past four days, Scheckter has posted a fast lap of 221.204 mph and run a total of 20 laps.

The team will be looking to continue practice tomorrow from 12 - 6pm ET, in preparation for next weekend’s Indianapolis 500 qualifying. The 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 will be held Sunday, May 29. It will be broadcast live on ABC beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET.

The KV Racing Technology - SH Racing team used the valuable downtime today to practice for the IZOD Pit Stop Competition. Time trials will begin at 9:00 am ET tomorrow on pit lane. The pit stop competition will be held on Carburetion Day, Friday, May 27 from 1:30 - 3:00 pm ET.
